Top 10 cars sold in May 2012


The Maruti Suzuki Alto has gained back its number 1 position in May 2012 by selling 20724 units. The increase in sales is marginal and the Swift is right on the Alto's heels.


Maruti Suzuki sold 20050 units of the Swift last month, which is a marginal increase from April. However the Swift's sales can be much more if the company can produce more units.


The Maruti Suzuki DZire has maintained its third position for quite some time now. It sold 17707 units, which is a 2200 units improvement from April.




A surprise at number 4. Mahindra's Bolero has gained two positions to come in the top 5. It sold 9584 units last month.


The Tata Nano has pulled into the top 5 even though sales haven't increased by much. The world's cheapest car sold 8507 units last month.


Jumping 3 positions is the Hyundai i20, which with its Fluidic front managed to sell 7675 units, taking the number 6 position.


The old and trusty Maruti Omni sold 7452 units in May 2012, which puts it 3 positions higher on the top 10 chart.


Hyundai's cheapest car, the Eon has dropped by 5 places to number 8, selling 7346 units, which is significantly lesser than the 8541 units it sold in April.


By far the biggest loser in sales in May 2012 is the WagonR, which dropped 5 places to number 9. Maruti Suzuki sold 7101 units of the WagonR last month.



The Hyundai i10 dropped two places to the bottom of the top ten, selling 6959 units. The i10 lost almost 900 units from April.
